ShortBio:

Research activity has always been related to Security \ Cybersecurity.

Starting in the area of Computer Networks and Systems Administration in the Graduation's and Master's degrees (MSc), then moving on to Applied Cryptography for devices with few computational and energy resources (Wireless Sensor Networks) in the Doctorate (PhD).

After completing PhD, for various reasons, research was very close to real life and to the specific problems of Cybersecurity and Combating Cybercrime, from an Applied Science perspective, which led to collaboration with various police, military and State security organizations, including the Portuguese Criminal Police, Interpol, the Portuguese National Security Agency and the Portuguese Armed Forces.

Two activities that positively and uniquely differentiate the professional path are mentioned: (i) in 2012, integration of the Installation Committee of the National Cybersecurity Center; (ii) in 2022 (and until 2026) participation in the Edification of the Portuguese Cyberdefense School in partnership with the Portuguese General Staff of the Armed Forces.

Currently, the focus of Research activities is on three vectors, in a complementary and related way: (i) Disinformation (in the broad sense... including Fake News and variants of Fraud among other similar ones...); (ii) Emotional Computing; and (iii) Cybersecurity Classification Systems.

In a more technical (or teaching) context, activities are distributed across the following areas: Security in Communication Networks; Penetration Testing; Cryptography; and, generally, in Cybersecurity Technologies and Networking Technologies.
